Right-Brained in a Left-Brain Dominated World

We all know that our brains has two sides, the left and the right, and that each one of us has the dominance of thinking in one side of the brain than the other. To say it simpler, left brain thinkers tend to be more analytical and logical and right brain thinkers are more creative and imaginative.

As an art student, I obviously am a right brain thinker. And when it comes to the topic of Math and Science, I tend to get frustrated and give up easily when I don't get the answers right. This has always been a difficulty of mine ever since I was in grade school. Don't get me wrong but in high school, I loved Chemistry and Algebra but I really think that these subjects hate me. I never got a grade higher than 90 or so, which was really frustrating after you've exhaustingly and patiently try to solve every equation given over and over. We all know the experience of having to go up in front of the class to solve board works. I would always take too much time in solving equations and oftentimes I get all confused and stuck so I just tend to copy the answers of the one beside me. But I've gotten over the fact that I really can't be a math genius or a science wiz kid.

Nonetheless, I still encounter simple math and science problems in every day life, from counting my savings for the day to calculating which part of the field I should kick the football to. As a creative, I use math to estimate and measure how much paint I shall use or how big or small i should draw an object in accordance to the space given. I also try to improve my left brain by reading a lot of books and learning about play of words and their meanings so I could be able to easily explain in words my artworks to people in a more intelligent manner. Math and Science really helps a lot in situations like these and I think it is a must for us to learn the basics.
